It is to your advantage to be familiar with different types of hair pieces and quality so you can educate your client.
The consultation
You will learn how to provide the service of a consultation as well as how to price your services.
Wrapping and prepping hair for mold and measurements
Prepping the hair is very important to ensure proper fit and accurate measurements for your unit.
The main objective of wrapping and prepping the hair is to evenly distribute the hair around the head. This will ensure the wig will sit properly.
This varies depending on hair texture and length, you will be taught a few different techniques.
Measurements and Mold
Before any foundation can be made it is necessary to take accurate measurements. The advantage of working with measurements in addition to a mold is that you have the exact contour of the hairline and head. The mold can then be cut and tried on the client before mounting, thus ensuring a correct fit. We will be covering all the above as well as changing a clients hairline ie if your client has a large forehead and would like to have it reduced.
Resizing and custom fitting
Many times clients purchase stock units or have not done their measurements properly.
We will teach you various methods of making a wig fit properly. There are many different shapes of heads; you will be taught how to adapt a wig to all.
