Hair Care Instructions

  1. Keeping the hair clean is very important and will extend the life of your wig and extensions. Hair will tangle when dirt and sweat are allowed to accumulate. Wash the hair immediately after swimming spa, exercise, and etc. Do not use heavy hair products or leave-in conditioners, these can build up on the hair and will cause it to tangle and/or dry out. If the hair feels dry or heavy with buildup you can use a good clarifying shampoo to remove the buildup followed by good moisture based shampoo and; conditioner we suggest Miss MyMy hair care products because they are moisture based. We also suggest a bi weekly deep treatment to avoid the hair drying out resulting in breakage.
The knots on wigs in particular can be very sensitive. The wig cap and the knots are in direct contact with the wearer's scalp and body secretions which form dandruff etc. Dandruff etc, just as other body secretions have a chemical makeup, which if not washed out often enough or properly can cause the hair (knots) to break down, causing breakage and hair loss. Some wig caps are more susceptible than others. Wearing a stocking cap to create a barrier helps keep the knots clean
  2. Before washing the hair, comb the hair with a large tooth comb. If the hair is unusually dry spray mixture of conditioner and water and comb through . You must gradually wet the hair down and comb with a wide tooth comb before you completely wash the hair. If the hair is very dry and a lot of water is added at once the hair will swell up like a sponge and tangle! Therefore, it is important to gradually wet the hair before submerging it in water. This will also happen with the hair growing from your head. Always comb the hair from the root after washing. The root is the only area where the hair is folded over in order to get it onto the weft or wig, so this is the only place where the cuticle of the hair is reversed so combing out after being washed is very important.
  3. After wetting the hair, add shampoo and gently massage thoroughly making sure to concentrate on the roots and knots, remember the knots must be cleaned completely, we recommend Miss MyMy shampoo. After shampooing Add a liberal amount of Miss MyMy Conditioner making sure to concentrate on the roots first then the shaft of the hair down to the roots. Use a wide tooth comb to comb through the hair distributing the conditioner from root to end. Let the conditioner stay on the hair for at least 5 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. Towel dry the hair as much as possible. Once the hair has been towel dried apply 3 pumps of Miss MyMy Serum to the wet hair, concentrating on the roots first, then the shaft and ends of the hair. Make sure the product is applied all over so no one area is forgotten, and comb through to properly distribute. Allow the hair to air dry if possible if not continue with your normal styling process.
  4. If the hair feels too dry or heavy with too much hair care products, you should wash the hair completely with clarifying shampoo to remove build it and follow steps 2 and 3.
  5. As is the case with the hair growing form your head, when swimming, always wear a cap to prevent prolong exposure to chlorine or salt water which causes the hair to tangle. Always wash the hair right away with shampoo and conditioner after swimming in both fresh and salt water and allow to air dry if possible to avoid excessive heat.
  6. Make a couple of big braids when going to, swim, or exercise (please untangle the hair before making the braids).NEVER SLEEP ON WET HAIR.Make sure the hair is completely dry before going to bed.
  7. For curly textures you can also make a leave-in conditioner at home by diluting conditioner (10%) with water (90%). Apply the mixture lightly onto your hair and comb the hair from the end to the top near the scalp to avoid pulling the hair out, especially in the case of hand tied wigs.
  8. Although you can chemically process all Miss MyMy products it would be advisable NOT TO TINT, COLOR, PERM OR DO ANY EXTRA CHEMICAL PROCESSES if you are not a professional. We do not guarantee hair that has been chemically processed.
  9. Please check the hair before you use the hair. Be certain that the hair texture, color, length, and quality are what you want. We will not be responsible for the hair if it is not in original condition. For curly hair, you may test the curl by wetting a small portion away from the rest. Place the hair on a desk, pull a small portion away from the rest, spray some water, and let it soak for about 15 seconds. Hold the top of the hair while it is on the desk and gently comb the wet portion from the bottom and watch it wave. Towel dry and scrunch it to wave up more.
  10. In the case of extensions, never cut or split the weft this will cause the hair to shed. Some hair comes out form the wefts easier than others (e.g. silky) if you choose to cut the weft use a stylist who is able to tie the weft and alleviate shedding. Miss MyMy will not guarantee hair where the weft has been cut.
