All About Perming Your Miss MyMy Lace Front/Full Lace Wig and or Hair Piece.
As we always say... if you weren't born with it buy it!!!!
Our virgin hair is perfect for perming so if you don't like the curl of your lace wig... change it. As usual we suggest taking your lace wig to your favourite stylist for professional help but if you really feel like you can do this yourself here's a little information that might be of help.
Many people see great curls on someone's head and assume they can get the exact same thing; this may not always be possible, whether the hair is growing from your head or on a lace wig. It is also much less possible if trying to duplicate natural curls. In most cases it is easier to duplicate the look of natural curls with non chemical methods i.e. curlers and rods. All hair is different and will react differently to the chemical process. Much of the time we receive pictures from clients wanting a particular curl a celebrity is wearing, they think this curl can be achieved with a perm... what they do not realize is this celebrity has had her hair set or has used a curling iron, she did not simply roll out of the shower with those beautiful curls... they had a lot of help. If you are going to perm your lace wig because you think you will get the perfect curls morning noon and night... you should rethink your decision to perm.
Some hair just will not take perms well. Since our lace wigs are made from real hair your wig may be made from hair which will not take the perm and you should be prepared your this possibility.
Some reasons perms fail:
- Medications-some medications can affect a perm
- Health problems
- Previously colored or chemically treated hair
- Puberty
Since with a lace wig you do not have exact knowledge on the background of the donor it is impossible to determine why your perm may fail.
Perms are best on hair that is not colored or damaged in any way.
It takes about one to two hours to complete a perm depending on how long your hair is and how quickly you work. There are usually 2 chemical solutions; the first will break the structural bonds of the hair and the second (neutralizer) will stop the chemical process and lock in the curl. If you do not neutralize the hair properly your curl will not be locked in and your lace wig could be damaged. Keep in mind that it could take up to 48 hours to see the true results of the perm so give it some time before you get worried.
Your perm will last from 2 to 6 months
Make sure you choose the right size rods for your desired curl pattern. Tightness of the curl will not only depend on the rod size but also how long the solution stays on.
Some hair is trickier than others; the coarser or thicker the hair the more resistant it can be to change.
To prep your lace wig for the perm you'll want to use a moisturizing conditioner after you shampoo and avoid deep conditioning 24 hours prior to the perm or it may not take.
There are many different ways to perm your hair depending on the type of curl you want... be creative. If you want tight curls you ca do the braided perm. Braid the hair as big or small as you want, secure the ends and apply the solution. Remember the hair will take on the curl of whatever you put on it so the sky's the limit.
As always have fun
