Take Care Of Your Investment

Taking care of the hair you purchase is just as important as taking care of the hair growing from your head.

Hair Care Instructions:

Keeping your hair extensions and wigs clean is very important and will extend their life. Hair will tangle when dirt and sweat are allowed to accumulate. You can also experience hair breakage if hair is allowed to become dry. Wash your hair immediately after swimming spa, exercise, etc. Do not use heavy hair products or leave-in conditioners, these can build up on the hair and will cause it to tangle and/or dry out. If your hair extensions feel dry or heavy with buildup you can use a good clarifying shampoo to remove the buildup followed by good moisture based shampoo and; conditioner, we suggest Miss MyMy hair care products because they are moisture based. We also suggest a bi weekly deep treatment to avoid the hair drying out resulting in breakage, especially during the winter months.
The knots on wigs in particular can be very sensitive. The wig cap and the knots are in direct contact with the wearer's scalp and body secretions which form dandruff etc. Dandruff etc, just as other body secretions have a chemical makeup, which if not washed out often enough or properly can cause the hair (knots) to break down, causing breakage and hair loss. Some wig caps are more susceptible than others. Wearing a stocking cap to create a barrier helps keep the knots clean. Try not to scratch of rub one area continuously as this can result in hair loss in that area. Wearing your hair in a ponytail continuously can also result in hair loss in the area of the ponytail.
Before washing the hair, comb the hair with a large tooth comb. If the hair is unusually dry spray mixture of conditioner and water, comb through and allow to saturate the hair for 5 minutes prior to washing . You must gradually wet the hair down and comb with a wide tooth comb before you completely wash the hair.If the hair is very dry and a lot of water is added at once the hair will swell up like a sponge and tangle! Therefore, it is important to gradually wet the hair before submerging it in water. This will also happen with the hair growing from your head. Always comb the hair from the root after washing. The root is the only area where the hair is folded over in order to get it onto the weft or wig, so this is the only place where the cuticle of the hair is reversed so combing out after being washed is very important. Do not simple submerge all the hair in a big bundle and begin to swish it around in your sink, it will become tangled. In the case of extensions follow the above directions and hold the hair by the weft during washing and comb in one direction from the root to the end, this will prevent it from getting tangled during the washing process.
After wetting the hair, add shampoo and gently massage thoroughly making sure to concentrate on the roots and knots, remember the knots must be cleaned completely, we recommend Miss MyMy shampoo. After shampooing Add a liberal amount of Miss MyMy Conditioner making sure to concentrate on the roots first then the shaft of the hair down to the roots. Use a wide tooth comb to comb through the hair distributing the conditioner from root to end. Let the conditioner stay on the hair for at least 5 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. Towel dry the hair as much as possible. Once the hair has been towel dried apply 3 pumps of Miss MyMy Serum to the wet hair, concentrating on the roots first, then the shaft and ends of the hair. Make sure the product is applied all over so no one area is forgotten, and comb through to properly distribute. Allow the hair to air dry if possible if not continue with your normal styling process. We do not suggest used of a brush on Miss MyMy hand tied extensions. A brush will pull the delicate hand knotting causing loosening of the hair and eventual shedding due to the loosening. All that is needed to take care of Miss MyMy hair is a wide tooth comb and a small tooth comb if desired.
If the hair feels too dry or heavy with too much hair care products, you should wash the hair completely with clarifying shampoo to remove build up and follow steps 2 and 3.
As is the case with the hair growing form your head, when swimming, always wear a cap to prevent prolong exposure to chlorine or salt water which causes the hair to tangle and dry out. Always wash the hair right away with shampoo and conditioner after swimming in both fresh and salt water and allow to air dry if possible to avoid excessive heat.
Make a couple of big braids when going to, swim, or exercise (please untangle the hair before making the braids). NEVER SLEEP ON

WET HAIR.Make sure the hair is completely dry before going to bed.
For curly textures you can also make a leave-in conditioner at home by diluting Miss MyMy conditioner (10%) with water (90%). Apply the mixture lightly onto your hair and comb the hair from the end to the top near the scalp to avoid pulling the hair out, especially in the case of hand tied wigs. For fantastic curls allow your hair to dry in a clean T shirt.

In the case of extensions, never cut or split the weft this will cause the hair to shed. Some hair comes out form the wefts easier than others (e.g. silky). Also as mentioned above make sure to comb the weft from the root because this is the only area where the hair is folded over and the cuticle reversed so tangling can happen in this area especially with curly hair and during washing. Also as mentioned above DO NOT use a brush on Miss MyMy hand tied extensions. The bristles can catch small amounts of hair on the track and pull the hair, eventually pulling it out of the weft, disrupting the pressure which holds the hair in place which will result in hair loss and inability to reuse the weft. If you feel you have to use a brush use machine tied hair, NOT hand tied. In the case of machine tied you must cut the weft and each time you cut the weft you create a place for the hair to come out.

Knowing how to care for your extensions and wigs will make them last longer while looking shiny and healthy.
